On Sunday, Interior Minister and Head of the High Security Committee for securing the Arab Summit, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, chaired an extensive meeting with all the security agencies tasked with this responsibility. The meeting aimed to present the detailed security plans to ensure the success of securing this important event, which is expected to be hosted by the capital, Baghdad, on May 17th, 2025.
The Minister issued several important recommendations, foremost of which was to secure the areas that will be part of the summit’s activities. He stressed the importance of high-level coordination among all security units involved in this mission, avoiding armed displays, facilitating vehicle movement, and preventing any traffic congestion.
He also confirmed the completion of all safety measures by the Civil Defense Directorate, stressing the need for full adherence to the security plans and the optimal execution of tasks to ensure a safe and suitable environment for all leaders, heads of state, and their delegations in their second home, Iraq.
The Minister listened to a brief explanation of the executive plans to secure the Arab Summit and reviewed the timelines for implementing security measures to assess the readiness of the security formations.
